This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the John M. Browning designed 1911 pistol. That in itself is a a remarkable milestone. A mechanical device that has no signigicant redesign since it’s original design and production. Sure materials have been developed and incorporated into the modern 1911, and there are new and better sights, and springs. A bob here, and an extension there. But for the most part this is a tool that has not changed in 100 years.
Throughout the year there will be various celebrations, and deep dives into the weapon itself. For today, let me just point out an interesting trivial bit.
Today’s date, 1 9 11.
