On this day 237 years ago our Corps became a reality. The first Marines were recruited, and signed their papers on this day in 1775. In a small tavern in Philadelphia the United States Marine Corps was born.
Today we celebrate that history, and our founding. For 237 years our Corps has been there for this nation. In Tripoli, Beruit, Fallujah, Helmand, Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal, Peking, Belleau Woods, Tun Tavern, Khe Sahn, Hue, Da Nang, Chosin Reservoir, Saigon, Tehran and so many many more. Through each of these actions be they combat or humanitarian your Marines have made a difference.
Today, raise a glass in honor of our Corps. Thank a Marine, and remember those that have made, and continue to perpetuate the history of our Corps.
