Presidential Debate

So the candidates decided that they would conduct the debate on Friday after all.  What did I think of the debate?

Well I skipped it.  Watching through the eyes of the medias camera selection was just going to piss me off.  So, I scanned through the reviews, and I watched some clips.  Over at Chuck’s blog… he managed to summarize things pretty consistently with my views of the action:

Both said

  • “what I will do to fix the economy will work”
  • “what the other guy will do won’t work”

neither said

  • “I am going to call out, by name, the legally elected members of congress, and the democratic members of congress, and appointed members of gummint whose stupidity and corruption are key factors in our economic problems”
  • “I am going to sic the FBI, SEC, Homeland Security, and IRS/Treasury on the aforementioned officials to determine if they conducted any illegal activities, and as their actions could result in collapse of the US economy, declare their actions as a “clear and present danger” to the United States, and declare them enemies of the state and people if even ethical wrongdoing is found”
  • “I am going to make congress stay in session until they (the ones who hold the purse strings) fix it, and if they don’t fix it and excuse themselves, will fix it on my own by executive order.”

Obamaramadinijad said “Well, Senator McCain is absolutely right” something like eight times. Last I checked, when engaged in a debate, and your opponent constantly agrees with you, you’ve won.
